48 Senators, 142 Representatives and a Partridge in a Pear Tree
We come bearing gifts! As of today, we have 48 Senators and 142 Representatives signed on as cosponsors of the LRA Disarmament and Northern Uganda Recovery Act. That is remarkable, folks! And the credit goes to you all for using your voices to raise the profile of this issue. You are making noise and our policymakers are listening.
But don't stop now. We are just TWO Senators away from reaching our goal of 50 cosponsors in the Senate before Congress takes winter recess. That means if your Senators have yet to cosponsor the bill, make it your goal to bring them on board and get us to the big 5-0. (We might go to their office and throw confetti on them, just to make it official)
On the House side, we still have our work cut out for us. With 142 representatives signed on to the bill, we are 76 away from our goal of 218. (Yes, we are math whizzes here at Resolve Uganda.) It will take a strong follow-through from all of us to bring in those needed cosponsors.
If you participated in How it Ends, the Knock Knock Campaign, and/or the Hometown Shakedown Kickoff on November 18th, please make sure to follow up with the staffer you met asap.
You can also still sign up for the Hometown Shakedown Campaign and we will help you arrange a constituent meeting at a local office for your Member of Congress. In-person constituent meetings are one of the most powerful ways to influence the priorities of our policymakers, so sign up!
Once again, thank you. Your committed efforts are making waves. Let's keep moving and see this through to the end.
