How It Ends gets media to pay attention to ignored crisis
At the start of the How It Ends lobby day this week in DC, Michael asked the 2,000 people gathered if any of them had read stories in their newspapers about the 135 people who had been abducted by the LRA the week before. No hands went up. While the media may not want to cover what's happening to innocent families in central Africa, it seems that they will pay attention when thousands of US citizens descend on DC to demand that their leaders do something to help. Here's a sampling of some of the news coverage that has started to roll in:
- AllAfrica: Uganda: Remarks of U.S. Senator Russ Feingold at 'How It Ends' Advocacy Days for Peace in Northern Uganda
- Politico: Kristen Bell not 'forgetting' Uganda
- AP: Activists plan move for law to get African warlord
- New Vision: Americans to Lobby Against LRA
- AllAfrica: Americans press for anti-Kony Bill
- Huffington Post: Stopping One Man to Save Thousands
- Huffington Post: Africa’s Longest War Still Taking Lives
