We're headed to Uganda

Hey friends! Just wanted to give you a heads up that our staff is going to be MIA for the next few weeks. Michael, Paul and I are Uganda-bound as of 10pm this evening and we'll be back on September 1st.

We're taking advantage of Congress being on recess and headed for Kampala, Gulu, Lira and Kitgum in order to re-connect with what's happening on the ground and make sure our advocacy in D.C. is as informed and timely as possible. Given the breakdown in the negotiations process, there are a lot of questions as to what comes next, and we're hoping to come back with answers for you.

When Peter and Michael started Uganda-CAN, it was with the belief that we were advocating with, not for, the people of northern Uganda and we've always tried to amplify their voices here in D.C. We're hoping that this trip will be a time to hear directly from the people there as to what their vision is for moving forward.

Subsequently, we're not going to be able to update the blog quite as much as we'd like to, but I'll definitely try to get online as much as possible to give you updates, both on our trip and on any recent news.

Looking forward to being in touch once we're back, and have a great last few weeks of summer!
