Resolve Uganda honored to host delegation from northern Uganda to week of meetings in D.C.
This last week, we had the distinct honor and privilege of hosting a high-level delegation of civil society leaders from nothern Uganda - three men who have been working tirelessly for peace who traveled around the world to carry their message of peace and hope.
Rwot David Acana, the Paramount Chief of the Acholi, Bishop Macleord Ochola, retired Anglican bishop of northern Uganda, and Mr. Michael Otim, Director of the Gulu NGO Forum, came to Washington, D.C. last week for a series of meetings in which they lobbied for greater U.S. support for peace and reconstruction in northern Uganda. They met with both Senate and House offices, as well as officials at the Department of State, USAID, and the National Security Council. In each of these meetings, they delivered a message of hope that peace is still possible in Uganda, and emphasized that it's more important than ever before that we all work together for the people of northern Uganda.
As Resolve Uganda staff, we were humbled and priviliged to have the opportunity to host such inspirational and insightful men, who were coming directly from the negotiations in Juba.
We look forward to doing all that we can to support these leaders and their colleagues in their efforts to achieve a more peaceful future for the people of northern Uganda.
