Building Momentum in Missouri!

Below are some notes, courtesy of Shannon in Missouri, about the Knock Knock delegation that met with Senator McCaskill's staff.

August 20, 2007

I wanted to give you guys a summary of Friday's meeting with Kimiko Gilmore, Deputy Regional Director of Claire McCaskill's Office. I met with her to discuss the main two items:
1. Recommending that the newly appointed "Senior Advisor on Conflict in Africa, Mr. Timothy Shortley, be actively involved in the Juba Peace Talks in Sudan, etc.
2. Claire McCaskill should Co-sponsor and vote "yes" for the Child Soldier Prevention Act.
I was able to give a brief overview of the conflict and explain the significance of the current peace talks. Previously, Kimiko Gilmore had not known the extent of the conflict, and was very supportive and interested in our views. She has promised to pass on the information to Senator McCaskill, and to keep me (and all of you) informed of any developments. In addition, she welcomed the idea of future meetings and correspondence with individuals or groups. I encourage everyone to write a letter, call, or schedule a meeting with the office to express your concern!
