How effective are meetings like this?

Home office meetings are one of the very most effective tools we have in our activist toolbox. Our leaders are much more likely to respond to our demands when they hear from us personally, and there's nothing more personal than showing up on their doorstep.

During our first Knock Knock initiative in the summer of 2007, we had more than 1500 constituents participate in more than 100 meetings across the country. As a result, the US sent a diplomat to help support the peace talks that were happening at the time, and we secured enough cosponsors for the Child Soldiers Prevention Act that the bill passed both chambers of Congress and became law. These were huge victories that wouldn't have happened without people across the country taking the time to let their politicians know that they cared.
