"Children of War" a powerful new documentary by director Bryan Single

Children of War

A story is a powerful thing.

The Resolve Uganda team is grateful for friends and partners in this effort who use their craft of storytelling to promote peace and recovery for children and families affected by LRA violence.  Among them is film director Bryan Single, with his new and beautifully-made documentary, Children of War.

Filmed in northern Uganda over a period of three years, Children of War powerfully documents the story of a group of former child soldiers as they undergo a process of emotional and spiritual healing.

Having been abducted from their homes and schools by the LRA and forced to fight, the children struggle to confront and break through years of brutal abuse, extreme religious ideology, and participation in war crimes, with the help of a heroic team of trauma counselors in a local rehabilitation center. Children of War follows these fearless allies as they bravely and compassionately guide the children through the healing process and onward to new lives.

Single's film has been very well received thus far, earning multiple awards from social justice and film institutions. And this past May, he was invited to screen his film at the International Criminal Court Review Conference in Kampala, Uganda---during which, leaders in the international law community gave special recognition to the suffering of LRA victims in northern Uganda.

As Resolve Uganda seeks to effectively and responsibly shape US policy for lasting peace in central Africa, it is important for us to sift through and understand the facts and figures.  But we can't ever lose the stories. They remind us of the people---the very real and invaluable human lives being affected by LRA violence.

Our deepest thanks to Mr. Single for his masterful work in telling those stories and for helping to raise the banner for the children and families of northern Uganda deeply affected by this conflict.
