Join the "Hometown Shakedown" and get the bill passed

On November 18th of last year, we kicked off the Hometown Shakedown Campaign with a national call-in effort and dozens of constituent meetings at the local offices of key Members of Congress. The increased pressure from those calls and meetings resulted in 15 Members of Congress adding their support to the bill within 48 hours. Since then, more Members of Congress have responded to your voices and we now have 48 Senators and 142 Representatives cosponsoring the bill. Clearly, your committed efforts are making change.

But we are not done yet.

If the LRA Disarmament and Northern Uganda Recovery Act doesn’t gain the support it needs over the next couple of months, it will die with this session of Congress. It's up to us to not let that happen.

The goal is simple: help you get your two Senators and one Representative to sign on as cosponsors to the legislation, so that we reach a critical mass of 50 Senators and 218 Representatives committed to seeing the bill passed. So join the "Hometown Shakedown," and let's make history for the cause of peace. Here's how:

ACTION ONE: Call your Member of Congress TODAY!

We need you to continue to call the DC office of your representatives who have yet to cosponsore the bill. Your commitment and regular calls keep this issue on the radar of your Members of Congress so they get the message loud and clear: this violence has to stop, and to make that happen, they need to cosponsor the LRA Disarmament and Northern Uganda Recovery Act. ACTION TWO: Sign up to "shake down" your Member of Congress in person

Close to 90% of the bill's current cosponsors in Congress came on board after being lobbied in-person by constituents (that's you!). Need we say more? Organizing a meeting with your Member of Congress or their staff in their local office nearest you is the most effective action you can take to convince them to cosponsor the bill.
