Host an Event
Convincing our leaders of the need to act for peace in northern Uganda isn't something that we can do alone. However, our collective action can put pressure on Congress and the Bush administration to send a senior diplomat to the Juba peace talks and help convince them that securing peace in northern Uganda should be a priority for our government. Hosting an event is an effective (and fun) way to spread the word about the opportunity to help end the war in Uganda and build the movement for peace.

- Home: Invite your friends and fellow advocates to your house and get them involved in your efforts for peace in Uganda
- School: Work with a social action club at school (or create your own) to organize an assembly or after school event
- Religious Group: Work with your religious group’s youth or social action club
- Organize a letter-writing drive or congressional call-in day
- Screen a northern Uganda documentary
- Host a creative gathering to make t-shirts and posters to wear and hang in school so that you and your friends can advertise peace in northern Uganda
- Get your group involved in an upcoming northern Uganda grassroots event in your area
- Make sure you get the attention of your leaders
- Write letters to your leaders
- Urge people at your event to call their representatives
- Make sure participants sign up for Resolve Uganda's updates so that we can let them know when there are upcoming opportunities for action
- How to get media attention for your event
- Invite a local newspaper to cover the event or write a letter to the editor after the event
- Get a sound byte for your event on a local radio or tv station
- How to get your community involved in the event
- Write a story about northern Uganda for a newsletter or bulletin at a church or community group to which you belong
