Advocates Alliance
Be a leading lobbyist for peace in your state
Do you check the Daily Monitor online, some might say obsessively?- Do you still tell stories about "that crazy boda boda ride"?
- Do you know what the acronyms LRA, NRM and SPLA actually stand for? (Extra credit for the PRDP).
- Do you have a Google News alert for Joseph Kony?
If you answered yes to any of these questions, then you might be a good fit for the Advocates Alliance - a program for the die-hards out there whose lives have been devoted to this cause in one way or another, and who are looking for ways to continue to make a difference.
What is it? A network of Uganda-philes who are willing to be advocates for peace to their Senators and Members of Congress. We need people who are willing to build relationships with their represenatives and their staffs, to make sure that no leader goes un-lobbied. We can only be in touch with so many offices at one time, but with a team of lobbyists dispatched across the country who are willing to make a quick phone call or send an email as opportunities arise, we can increase our reach and influence exponentially.
Specifically, we're looking to set up highly-select teams of a few people in every state who have significant experience working on this issue, either having been to northern Uganda or taking the lead on organizing events here in the US. It won't be a substantial time commitment, but we are looking for people who are willing to commit to collaborating with us in the development of our advocacy and taking targeted measures to lobby their Members of Congress when needed.
